PUPILS of a Bournemouth Ballet school are “over the moon” that their schools’ 30th Anniversary performances will go ahead.

Taking place at Pavilion Dance South West on Saturday 26 June, dancers of multiple ages from the Jane Farrell Ballet School will be able to perform two live shows after months of “Zoom rehearsals”.

Founder and teacher Jane Farrell, who has performed throughout Europe, said: “It’s so heartening to see how the dancers have blossomed since live classes were allowed again. After months of ballet classes on Zoom, it was clear that the dancers had worked really hard at home whether that be in the kitchen, living room – or even the garden.

“Zoom classes were sometimes enlivened by outside events, dad coming in to the kitchen to get some cake, a favourite pet wandering in or a doll or teddy to be introduced.”

The audience will be socially distanced in accordance with government guidelines and there will be a DVD filmed for those who can't attend.

Jane, who celebrates the schools’ 30th anniversary this year, said: “Since I opened my school many hundreds of children have come and experienced the joys of learning ballet and performing on stage. Now the dancers are looking forward to showing all their hard work in these live performances.”
