NEARLY one-million Covid-19 jabs have been administered across Dorset to date.

A total of 993,686 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been given out across Dorset, according to the latest NHS data.

Now nearing the one-million jab milestone in the county there has been an impressive uptake in the Covid vaccine rollout.

Figures released by NHS England show that a total of 476,634 vaccines have been given across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, by Wednesday, June 23. 

There have been 264,363 first doses given across BCP, with 212,271 residents also receiving their second jab.

In wider Dorset there have been 282,163 first doses given and 234,889 residents have received their second dose - a total of 517,052 and 6,850,231 doses have been given in the South West.

Everyone aged 18 and over has been able to book their Covid-19 vaccine in England since Friday, June 18.

More than one million Covid-19 jabs were booked in just two days after the NHS opened its vaccination programme to all remaining adults in England.

A total of 1,008,472 appointments were arranged over Friday and Saturday through the booking service, NHS England said – an average of more than 21,000 every hour, or six every second.

The NHS  in England has now administered around 63,439,292 doses since Margaret Keenan became the first member of the public to get a jab on December 8.

Four in five adults have now received their first vaccination, according to NHS England figures – with three in five having both.
