A MEMBER of restaurant staff was smashed in the face with a glass picture frame by a man who was refused entry to the premises.

The victim was taken to hospital after suffering cuts to his face, ear and head.

Dorset Police is carrying out an investigation over the assault at Urban Garden restaurant and bar in Exeter Crescent.

A force spokesperson said three men were refused entry to the venue as it was fully booked at around 9.10pm on Saturday, May 8.

It is reported that one of the men proceeded to pick up a glass picture frame from a nearby table and hit a member of staff in the face with it.

Officers have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak with.

PC David Sweeting, of Dorset Police, said: “I have been carrying out a number of enquiries into this assault to try and identify the man responsible.

“I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to and would urge anyone with information about his identity to please get in touch.”
