IT IS beyond comprehension that all our councils in 2016 wholesale opposed Navitus wind farm, yet have nothing to say when a dozen massively polluting cruise ships park a mile or two off-shore Dorset.

It really is incomprehensible. Overwhelming hysterical reaction to the wind farm, ten miles out at sea, yet 200,000 ton cruise liners a mile offshore is all fine and okay.

The pollution from these liners is enormous. Whether gas turbines, or diesel or most polluting on the planet HFO (heavy fuel oil), at sea under power they are putting out hundreds of tons of nitrogen, sulphur, and carbon pollution, a day. Worldwide figures show that a fleet of thirty cruise ships puts out ten times more pollution than all the cars in Europe.

It is jaw dropping.

And now we see, Echo item June 21, from the sonar research work from Dorset Wildlife Trust, these anchored monsters all along our coast have done “very significant damage to the sea bed”.

And keep in mind these are 100 tonne anchors and anchor chains with ships swinging on the anchors, as a scythe mowing down on the sea-bed all in its path.

All this damage, massive pollution and scouring the sea-bed, and that is all okay to BCP council.

So by all means do tell us any councillors why the hysterical reaction to a wind farm in 2016, ten miles out at sea in far deeper water, that would have generated over 900 MW of clean sustainable energy, for our conurbation?

We welcome in giant monolithic monstrosities – we condemn – outlaw – benign clean energy systems. It is inconceivable how we could have more deeply irresponsible short sighted councils.
