WITH the easing of lockdown restrictions being postponed for four weeks in order to “speed up the vaccination programme”, surely the impending closure of the BIC vaccination centre for four weeks to accommodate a three-day cheerleading contest must now be put on ice.

Quite apart from the large numbers of vaccinations that would be missed as a result of the closure, the closing down and then re-setting up at the BIC will require large numbers of NHS staff and other vital resources that could be put to much better use at this time.

Whilst I sympathise with all the participants who have been training for months for this event, the timing, along with the fact that attendees are expected from all over the UK and Europe, must mean a postponement is now necessary.
