A LARGE fire broke out on the first floor of a building in Bournemouth and damaged the roof. 

At 17.13pm on Friday, June 18, fire crews were called to a property fire in Shelley Road, Bournemouth.

The fire, which started on the first floor of the building, spread to the roof. 

It was extinguished with six breathing apparatus', three hose reel jets and one aerial ladder platform.

Crews from Springbourne, Christchurch, Westbourne and Redhill were in attendance, with the aerial ladder provided by Westbourne. 

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire have confirmed that no persons were reported and there was no recovery needed.

Crews left the scene at 7.37pm while the emergency Red Cross vehicle stayed a while longer. 

The gas and electricity board also attended. 

By the end of the incident, fire crews were able to hand it back over to the owner of the property.
