ONE hundred years of motorcycling history will be going under the hammer at the end of this month.
The Charterhouse auction of classic and vintage motorbikes, set for The Haynes Motor Museum, also contains 100 lots.
Among the motorcycles up for sale includes a 1947 Vincent Rapide.
Bought by the vendor 54 years ago, and now fitted with a Watsonian sidecar, this 1,000cc is estimated at £30,000-35,000.
From the 1920’s there is the Wadkin-Snaith Brooklands Sprint Special.
Created and constructed by specialist engineer Carl Wadkin-Snaith along the lines of a 1920’s Brooklands racer this is estimated at £18,000-22,000.
From the 1930’s there is a 1936 Velocette KTS. Owned by a collector in Devon and restored it is estimated at £9,000-10,000.
The sale is being handled by Charterhouse, The Long Street Salerooms, Sherbourne.
It will take place at Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset, from 11am on Wednesday, June 30.
Charterhouse's George Bale said: "The market for classic and vintage motorcycles continues to remain strong.
"They also have great appeal from collectors in Europe and other countries as unlike cars there is no steering wheel on the wrong side.”
