ALMOST 50 new cases of Covid have been recorded across Dorset in the latest 24-hour period, government figures show.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows 28 new cases have been recorded across the BCP Council area in the 24-hours up to 4pm on Friday, June 11.

This brings the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in BCP to 25,690.

Meanwhile, 21 new cases were recorded in the Dorset Council area during the same period.

Since March, last year, 12,066 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Dorset Council area.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 89, with a rate of 22.5 per 100,000 people. In Dorset 50 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 13.2 per 100,000.

In the New Forest there were six new cases recorded in latest 24-hour period.

The total in the district since the pandemic started is 6,267.

The rolling seven-day period for the New Forest is 22 cases, with a case rate is 12.2.
