A PUB renowned for award-winning food, offering a "personal service" and being situated in a beautiful village is this week's Pub of the Week.

Located in the heart of Sandford, some two miles from Wareham, The Sandford Pub has taken this week's crown which will add to the pub's extensive list of accolades.

Owner of seven years, Jamie Perry said: "We pride ourselves on being a family friendly establishment. On average, we usually raise about £10,000 a year for local charities.

"We are a stand alone, individual establishment and we offer a really personal service. If something that you want is not on the menu and we have it in the kitchen, we will try to still deliver it. For us, it's about working with our customers to give them the experience they want from us.

"We are a fresh food, contemporary pub. We offer good, home-cooked food from local sources. This includes Jurassic Coast Meats and handmade rolls and breads from Wimborne, and much more.

"We try our best to support local businesses where we can."

The Sandford Pub recently had a £100,000 refurbishment to further improve the pub's offerings.

This has included a new conservatory with 60 covers and a 160 cover marquee.

July will also see the exciting arrival of five, double bedroom, ensuite eco pods in the pub garden.

Jamie said: "Our plan was to always rebuild our conservatory, and the marquee has always been there, but with regards to the pods, we saw a market and demand for staycations.

"From this, we will hopefully attract people that want to see this beautiful part of the world, where there aren't many hotels in the area."

Upcoming events at the pub include Funky Thursdays, starting from July 1 at 7pm.

This weekly event sees a variety of bands and musicians play at The Sandford Pub, with the winners and finalists invited to play at the final "battle of the bands": Sandfest.
