POLICE called to help a family of ducks near a busy road had to rescue two of the ducklings after they fell down a drain.
Members of the public flagged down police officers in Bath Road, near Bournemouth pier, yesterday.
Officers stopped the traffic to help the mother duck and ducklings back to Bournemouth's Lower Gardens.
A spokesman for Bournemouth police said he and a colleague, called Frankie, went to the rescue.

He said: "As they were walking through the gardens two of the ducklings fell into a drain. In a matter of seconds Frankie and I managed to open the drain and Frankie then went and rescued the ducklings from the drain
"Just to let you all know Mr and Mrs Duck and all the ducklings are all now safe and sound."
