WITH all the developments in modern electric traction from e-scooters to large cars, I think it’s time for me to share an idea that been humming away in my brain for years – the return of clean, efficient and powerful modern (and vintage) electric trolleybuses on perhaps two routes from Bournemouth Station to Bournemouth Pier and to Boscombe Pier.

Both pier approach roads at Bournemouth and Boscombe are steep (with turning circles available at both piers), ideal for the trolleybus to demonstrate their hill climbing strengths, and they leave no diesel fug.

I’m sure the trolleybus routes would attract both seaside holidaymakers arriving by train and enthusiasts alike.

What a practical attraction. Our new system would be the only one outside a museum in England.
