CASTLE Gardens in Sherborne is asking to increase its restaurant area by more than 50 per cent to meet what is says is growing demand.
Dorset Council is being asked to approve an extension at the New Road garden restaurant to add almost 44 square metres to the existing 75square metre dining area.
The application includes demolishing a small section of the Walled Garden Restaurant to make way for the extra space with the new build. The extension will follow the line of what appears to have once been a greenhouse believed to have been dismantled about 50 years ago. The main building, which dates from around 1750, is partially Grade 2 Listed.
The applications, reference no 2021/01843, can viewed in full on the Dorset Council website with public comments open until July 5th.
