A ROAD in North Dorset is currently closed for three days for roadworks.

A 2,440-metre stretch of the C13 in Melbury Abbas, from the junction with B3081 to the track leading to Gourds Farm, will be closed in both directions.

The road will be closed from Monday, June 7 until Wednesday, June 9.

A public notice from Dorset Council states this is to allow Dorset Council to safely replace manhole covers on the road.

A locally signed diversion route, which takes motorists to Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum, will be put in place to allow drivers to bypass the closed route.

Dorset Council warns that any person who breaches the road closure could be convicted or face a fine not exceeding £1,000. Alternatively, there are a number of shorter but unofficial routes that drivers can take to avoid the road closure. These are not suitable for HGVs and should be avoided if using larger machinery.
