FIREFIGHTERS were called to reports of a fire in West Moors Plantation last night.

Crews from Ferndown Fire Station attended the scene and, on arrival, found a group of adults camping who were about to have a barbecue.

According to the fire service, advice was given and "they soon understood how unwise their actions were."

Last April, crews tackled a "deliberate fire" started in woodland at West Moors Plantation.

This fire was believed to have been caused by youngsters.

At the time, a member of the team from Ferndown said: "We’ve spent all evening at a deliberate fire at West Moors plantation caused by youngsters.

"Parents, do you know where your kids are? This tied up vital resources when we could have been needed elsewhere."

Fire engines from Ferndown, Wimborne, Springbourne and Ringwood attended the scene last year.
