IT IS utterly appalling that the Conservatives on BCP council have seen fit to approve the building of 128 town centre flats with none being ‘affordable’.
The decision means developers are once again set to make a handsome profit at the expense of local people who are struggling to find affordable homes to rent, or to get on the housing ladder.
For the developers to suggest that the project would ‘not be viable’ if it were to include affordable homes is laughable, since sales of the flats are likely to gross tens of millions of pounds.
It seems the Conservatives on the council allow developers to get away with anything they want in the name of shareholder profit, and have no interest in providing affordable homes for the people of Poole.
More Labour representation is much needed if the council is to properly represent our residents.
