WE ARE all lucky enough to call Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole our home - but did you know there are lots of other places in the world with the same name? 

Our beautiful beachside towns share the same name with other locations across the globe, but some might be more unique than you first thought.

But have you ever wondered what they look like and where they are?

According to the website Geotargit, we are the only town called Bournemouth on the entire planet, which is pretty cool. 

However, there are five places called Christchurch - including in New Zealand and America.

It also shows there are 13 places named Poole - stretching from Trinidad and Tobago all the way to Estonia.

There are also 10 places in the world called Dorset- including in South Africa and Canada.

There are five places in the world named Christchurch, with three in the UK. 

Christchurch in Dorset was first founded in the seventh century and was originally named Twynham but became known as Christchurch following the construction of the priory in 1094.

Meanwhile Christchurch in New Zealand is known for its English heritage and was founded in 1848. 

Both Christchurch in Dorset and Christchurch in New Zealand sit on the banks of rivers with the same name - Avon.

There is also a Christchurch in Norfolk which had a population of just 833 in the 2011 census. 

The third Christchurch in the UK can be found in Newport, Wales.

Another Christchurch can be found in Middlesex County, Virginia in America which also takes its name from its British counterpart. 

Poole

Poole can be found in 4 countries throughout the world and there are a whopping 13 places with the same name.

The majority of the cities named Poole can be found above the equator.

The northernmost place is in the region Tartumaa in Estonia while the southernmost place is in the region Nariva in Trinidad and Tobago.

There are six places in American named Poole - including in Texas, Oklahoma, Maryland, Nebraska, Louisiana and Kentucky.

Meanwhile there are three places called Poole in the UK - including in Dorset, Leeds and Cheshire.
