LIFEBOATS were called out after an upturned kayak was spotted in choppy waters near St Albans Head yesterday afternoon.
Both Swanage lifeboats went to the area, close to Chapman's Pool, at 4.40pm.
The kayak was visible but had drifted too close to shore to be recovered.

Inquiries revealed it matched the description of a kayak that had been lost from a yacht last week.
Coastguards on the shore confirmed it did not look like anyone had been in the kayak.
Volunteers made their way back to the lifeboat station.
