A DINGHY overturned plunging people into the water off Baiter slipway in Poole.

Poole coastguards were alerted to the incident at 3.15pm yesterday.

The sailing dinghy was around 500 metres from the shore so coastguards and a race safety boat which was in the area went to help.

A spokesman for Poole coastguard said the vessel was uprighted ad secured and the casualties pulled out of the water to safety.

The dinghy was towed to the slipway and medical checks were carried out.
