A MAJOR route through Dorset is partially closed this afternoon following a two-vehicle crash.

The A351 Southbound in Stoborough, between West Lane to B3075 Corfe Road, is currently shut due to a two-vehicle crash on Friday, May 14.

Witnesses in the area say an air ambulance has landed in the area.

Motorists are being redirected around the road closure and traffic maps report some delays in the area.

An update from Travel Dorset states: "A351 Southbound closed due to two-vehicle accident from West Lane to B3075 Corfe Road. Traffic is coping well.

"Officers confirm traffic is flowing Northbound how it is being redirected onto the B3075 Corfe Road through Stoborough Green.

"An air ambulance has landed locally."

The road reopened at 5.30pm according to Travel Dorset.

Dorset Police has been contacted for a statement.

The collision comes after a motorcyclist from Bridport has sustained 'very serious injuries' in a crash on the A351 yesterday (Thursday, May 13).

Dorset Police was called at 1.27pm on Thursday to a report of a collision involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a yellow Honda motorcycle between the Blackhill Road roundabout and the Bakers Arms roundabout on the A351.

It is reported that the vehicles were travelling in the same direction when they collided with each other.

The motorcycle rider – a man aged in his 50s from Bridport – sustained very serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
