I am utterly bewildered at the BCP council's plans, as part of a proposed cycle route from Merley to Christchurch to install a cycle path along Whitelegg Way.

This will involve decimating the verges on either side of the road.

There's a substantial wild population of flowers all year round, and I've even seen deer grazing on the verge.

This would be a criminal act of vandalism just for the sake of a small diversion.

The Wimborne Road, which runs parallel to Whitelegg Way, is much quieter, surely preferable to cycle along?
