THE Sandbanks Ferry is quite an institution.
Everyone enjoys crossing to Studland from Sandbanks. Unfortunately, the ferry is subject to mechanical failure and the queues to get on board can be very lengthy at time.
It seems to me that it is time for a more people-friendly way to get across the harbour mouth, that means a bridge or a tunnel.
It seems to me that a tunnel is the most convenient of these two options.
Although tunnelling is expensive the distance here would be relatively short and there would be less disruption on the ground.
I believe that drivers would be prepared to pay far more than the ferry fee to cross immediately and far, far, quicker. Has anyone at BPC Council every given this a serious thought?
If not, they should. There must be government subsidies for project like this.
