THE popular land train at Hengistbury Head will be back in service this month.

Officials confirmed the train would be operating again from May 17.

The service, which runs from the Hungry Hiker cafe to the beach huts at Mudeford Sandbank, has been suspended due to coronavirus restrictions.

A spokesperson said: “We're pleased to say the land train will be running again from Monday May 17.

“It will run daily from 10am until 5pm, with the last train coming back to the Hiker Cafe terminal from Mudeford Spit at 5:30pm.

“This will be the same train we used in 2019, we have fitted extra screens between the seats to help with passengers who wish to sit within their family groups.

“We also ask passengers to wear masks and use contactless card payments to reduce any Covid risks.”

To ride the train it costs £2.20 for adults, 60p for children or £5.50 for a family ticket of two adults, three children and one dog.
