A SECOND person has been arrested after two cars crashed into pedestrians and fled the scene leaving two people seriously injured.

At around 7.05pm on Monday, May 10, a black Volkswagen Passat and a black BMW 116D hit two pedestrians in Manor Road and failed to stop at the scene.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service and two people – a man and a woman both aged in their 20s – were taken to Poole Hospital with serious injuries.

The man has since been discharged from hospital and the injured woman remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A black Volkswagen Passat was located by officers at an address in Bournemouth on the evening of Monday, May 10, and a local woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. She has been released under investigation.

Following further enquiries, a man who was reported to be driving the BMW has come forward and has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

The Bournemouth man, also aged in his 20s, has been released under investigation as officers continue to make enquiries.

Police constable Craig Jeffery, of the traffic unit, said: “Our investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision is ongoing and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward if they have not already spoken to police.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a silver Audi saloon, a dark-coloured Volvo, a small red van and two cyclists who are believed to have been in the area at the time of the collision.

“It is believed they are likely to have witnessed this incident and they may have information that might assist our investigation.

“From our enquiries, it is believed that the black BMW involved in the incident travelled from Bournemouth town centre to Manor Road prior to the collision and I would urge anyone who was driving in this area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please get in touch.”
