General manager Simon Behan has been at The Angel & Blue Pig for just over a year.

He told the Daily Echo: "The Angel & Blue Pig is beautifully quirky. Dating back to 13th Century, the pub has retained some its original features, including oak beams and glowing fireplaces, which makes it feel homely and welcoming.

"We are in the gorgeous town of Lymington, which is just under two-hours from London, so the pub is an ideal weekend escape from the city. There are also plenty of activities surrounding us, and we provide the perfect pitstop for adventurers.

"The pub is also home to 14 boutique- style bedrooms, ideal for a weekend escape to the New Forest. The rooms are beautifully finished with plush furnishings, en-suites and all the amenities you may need.

Daily Echo:

"It remains special because of the eclectic guests that enjoy the warm and friendly hospitality we provide.

"I believe we have all faced massive challenges with trading in the last 12 months. But we also have seen how communities and the hospitality industry can come together to support one another, and we are very happy to be back open."

The historic pub has undergone many refurbishments and multiple name changes over the years, but its charm and character have remained.

The Angel & Blue Pig’s menu has huge appeal for everyone from steak lovers to vegans. It attempts to cater for all and has a number of gluten free options.

The Argentinian steaks, matured for at least 21 days and cooked on a charcoal Josper grill, are particularly popular. A wide range of cuts, as well as a sharing 16oz Chateaubriand, are on offer. On Sundays, the hearty roasts take centre stage, served with all the trimmings and a choice of three meats, plus a veggie Mushroom and Camembert Wellington.

The pub boasts a great wine list, with the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc the star performer. A range of local real ales are also stocked, much to the delight of locals. The bar team serve a mean cocktail or can suggest a gin and mixer from an extensive list.

An outdoor terrace, with two large Jumbrellas and heaters, has been doing a roaring trade and punters will be welcomed back inside from next week following Government guidelines.

Covid has impacted options for entertainment, but it is hoped live music can be enjoyed at The Angel & Blue Pig again soon.
