A POPULAR aquarium will reopen when coronavirus restrictions ease later this month, it has been announced.
Brighton Sea Life will open its doors for the first time this year on May 17, after the government confirmed the next stage of its roadmap out of lockdown.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that hospitality venues will be allowed to host indoors, while large events with up to 30 people were also given the green light.
The aquarium features more than 5,000 creatures and is the oldest in the world.
Customers will have their temperature checked on arrival and group sizes will be restricted to comply with coronavirus restrictions.

Owners Merlin Entertainments are also calling for the government to scrap the one-metre rule once restrictions ease on June 21.
General manager Neil Harris said: “We can’t wait to finally reopen on Monday, May 17 and get back to doing what we do best – creating magical experiences for our guests.
“All our attractions are Covid-secure and we have a raft of safety precautions in place including pre-booking, temperature checks and capacity reductions.”
The move to the next stage of the road map out of lockdown on May 17 came as the Covid-19 alert level in the UK was downgraded after a “consistent” fall in cases, hospital admissions and deaths.
Confirmation that England would move to step three on the road map came from Mr Johnson at a Downing Street press conference after a Cabinet meeting to sign off the change.
The biggest easing of lockdown measures so far is designed to encourage people to take more personal responsibility for managing the risks posed by the virus.
The Prime Minister said: “This unlocking amounts to a very considerable step on the road map to normality and I am confident that we will be able to go further.”
The roadmap remains on track for the next stage on June 21.
