HOW good to be able to thank BCP Council for reversing their decision to ban an outdoor table at Cuckoo’s in Christchurch.

As explained in my earlier letter, Cuckoo’s, an independent coffee shop in Christchurch, managed to wait out the pandammit despite continuing expenses and loss of income.

The two small tables in question were in addition to those traditionally outside Cuckoo’s.

The “new” tables were placed against the wall near the underground passage to shops on the other side of the road.

In no way did these tables hinder anyone (in contrast to many tables across Bournemouth that usurp a sizable portion of pavement).

Apparently, someone complained.

Rather than visit to assess the situation, BCP Council initially called and told Cuckoo’s to remove the tables.

In response to my letter suggesting this is a time to support businesses–– after all tourism is key in our area––someone from BCP Council visited and permission was given for the “new” tables to be restored.

This response to rectify an error is admirable.

As a regular at Cuckoo’s, I thank you, BCP Council.
