A DISTRESSED man was airlifted to safety after an incident at Hengistbury Head.
Emergency services were alerted to the male on Tuesday evening.
Coastguard search and rescue teams flagged down officers from the Boscombe Neighbourhood Policing Team to help keep members of the public safe during the incident.

Ambulance and RNLI crews were also in attendance.
The area was cleared to allow the Wiltshire air ambulance to land on the beach.
