Reading your report, ‘Accident ruling in plane crash death’ (Daily Echo, 30 April) I again had to wonder why it takes so long (in this instance) three years, for an inquest to be completed.
And this case is by no means unusual - often up to a decade or more can elapse between an accidental death and the coroner’s court handing down its verdict.
There must be something seriously wrong with the process if it takes years for investigations into accidents to be completed.
An unnecessarily long and painful wait for the families of the victims, but a money-making, golden-egg-laying goose for lawyers and investigators.
Cynical? You bet I am.
