WEYMOUTH’S distinctive ‘all you can eat’ Ghurkha Bar and Restaurant is asking to make it’s take-away a permanent feature.

The change of use is being recommended for approval when the Dorset Council area planning committee meets next week (May 6).

The waterfront site, off Commercial Road, is owned by Dorset Council and is made up of a jetty, clad in timber to look like a boat. No changes are being proposed to the building which lies within the town conservation area.

The application for the permanent change of use has not attracted any negative comments and Weymouth Town Council voted unanimously in favour of submitting a comment of no objection subject to waste disposal and collection being available close to the location.

A Dorset Council planning officer report says that while the change might mean more traffic the nearest homes are 70m away and the site is next to a large car park. It suggests a 10am to midnight restriction on opening as one of the conditions of granting consent.
