A POPULAR woman found dead at her Poole flat died of alcohol intoxication, an inquest hearing has been told.

Jay-Marie Webber died earlier this month at her home address in Wimborne Road.

The 30-year-old, described as "a ray of sunshine" by friends, was found unresponsive by her partner, who had gone round after not being able to get hold of her earlier in the day.

On Wednesday, April 21, at Dorset Coroner's Court, Bournemouth Town Hall, an inquest hearing – held because of the unnatural nature of Miss Webber's death – was opened and adjourned.

During the short hearing, presided over by coroner Richard Middleton, evidence was heard from senior coroner's officer Ian Parry.

Mr Parry told the hearing: "Miss Webber lived at her studio flat. She was found by her partner on the afternoon of March 3, 2021.

"He couldn't get hold of her in the day and eventually attended the address late in the afternoon.

"He found her unresponsive on the bed and called for an ambulance."

Mr Parry said paramedics attended and confirmed Miss Webber was dead, and that police attended and confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances nor third party involvement in her death.

Mr Middleton then adjourned the hearing until a pre-inquest review date of September 16th this year, ahead of a full inquest into Miss Webber's death.

A post mortem report recorded the cause of death as alcohol intoxication.

Friends have since established a GoFundMe page, in a bid to raise money to support Miss Webber's family.

A memory walk was also set to take place on Friday, April 23.

Miss Webber's friend, writing on the GoFundMe page, said: "Jay was a ray of sunshine that lit up a room, she touched so many people with her kind soul and infectious laugh.

"We are hoping to raise money so the whole family can do something all together to celebrate her memory properly and anything else to help support them during this awful time.

"With the help of Andy Pedrick from Jurassic Jaunts he has kindly organised a walk called The Isle of Purbeck 1000 steps challenge.

"It is a 21 mile/34 km walk taking in all the steps in the east side of the Isle of Purbeck.

"We have set ourselves the challenge to complete the walk within eight hours."

Almost 100 people have already donated more than £3,790 in Miss Webber's memory.
