FEWER than 25 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 21 cases were recorded across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday.

The BCP Council area recorded 14 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,277.

In the seven days leading up to April 18, the latest rolling seven-day period, 59 cases were recorded, giving a rolling infection rate of 14.9 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area recorded seven new cases, taking the total to 11,846.

The rolling rate stood at 13.7 per 100,000 with 52 cases confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, seven cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,169.

The rolling rate was 16.7 per 100,000 with 30 cases recorded in the week before April 18.
