I READ the concerns now that some Ringwood councillors are now worried that the slip road at the main roundabout (A31) will be closed whilst works are to be carried out to provide an extra lane, towards the Bournemouth Spur Road at Ashley Heath.
I wonder if people of Ringwood actually believe that will somehow make the road any safer. I suggest, as I have in the past, it will only encourage more speed.
The whole idea a driver might save just a few moments, in slow moving traffic, to only be held up further on in their journey, seems a total waste of taxpayers’ money.
With the works to be done, it means that West Street has to be closed. I wonder if anyone can be bothered to look back and see who were behind the alterations.
My suspicion is the councillors, who moved into the area and have no really memory of how charming the market town used to be.
Ringwood and Fordingbridge are expected to have hundreds more homes built because, as with New Milton and Lymington, they are not within the National Park, only New Forest District.
Same can be said for Waterside near Southampton.
There will be mass building in the Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole authority area, and again Solent Freeport, Southampton to Portsmouth.
Why then ruin the New Forest?
