FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze on top of a cliff above a Poole beach.

The fire service reportedly received more than 20 calls from members of the public over the fire at Branksome Dene Chine promenade shortly after 6pm on Saturday, April 17.

Crews from Springbourne and Christchurch were called to deal with an area of heath that was alight.

The fire was extinguished using one hose reel jet.

A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue control room spokesman said: "We received reports that on the top of the cliff an area of heath was alight.

"Crews attended from Springbourne and Christchurch.

"We received about 20 calls about the incident, with the first call at 6.07pm.

"The area of heath, around 15 metres by 10 metres, was extinguished using one hose reel jet."
