A POOLE care home celebrated a special birthday earlier this month after original plans were postponed due to coronavirus.

Lilliput House Care Home celebrated Ethel Warren's 100 birthday on April 1.

Although Ethel's birthday is actually on February 19, birthday celebrations had to be postponed as Covid-19 restrictions meant that residents were isolating in their rooms on her birthday.

Ethel celebrated her milestone birthday with visits from family and friends in the home's visiting pod, a party with a buffet, a birthday cake and music.

On the day, Ethel said: "What a day, I feel so special, I feel like the Queen."

Lilliput House's manager, Kerry Mason said: "Ethel deserved to be spoilt so we did everything we could to do just that . As we could not celebrate during Covid ,we wanted to go above and beyond to give Ethel a memorable day for her 100 birthday .

"Thank you to Sue our Activities Coordinator, it was a fantastic celebration."

Ethel's daughter Sue, who had not seen Ethel for a year, was able to safely enter the building for Ethel's party.

Sue said: "We had a superb day and Sue, the Activities Coordinator, and Lilliput House did us proud." 😊
