A ROUTE through a Dorset village will be closed for 11 days next week for roadworks.

Dorchester Hill in Blandford St Mary will be closed between Monday, April 19 and Friday, April 30 to allow for the roadworks to be completed.

Dorset Council say the roadworks, which will take place over two phases, will allow Ford Civil Engineering to install ducting and a street lighting cable.

The first phase of roadworks will see a 100-metre section of Dorchester Hill closed between Beckett Close and Esme Avenue between Monday, April 19 and Sunday, April 25.

Both sections will have different diversion routes and will be signposted.

A public notice from Dorset Council states: “The closures have been requested to allow Ford Civil Engineering to install a ducting and a Street lighting cable.

“It will come into operation on April 19 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by April 30.
