A REFURBISHED hotel in Bournemouth is set to open its doors under the ibis Styles brand in June.

The 76-bedroom former Hotel Royale in Gervis Road is the latest addition to the town's holiday accommodation.

The resort is expected to be particularly busy this year as uncertainty continues to surround the future of foreign travel.

Hospitality group Accor has signed up in partnership with NQ2 to produce a contemporary hotel with decor specifically designed to reflect its location.

The design draws on the pastel colours of ice cream, giving a bright cheerful, nostalgic feel in keeping with its coastal location.

The refurbished hotel will feature a ground floor bar, lounge and large restaurant. It will also feature a kids’ zone and an ice-cream station.

Accor's Philip Lassman said: "We are proud to announce our second Bournemouth location and our second hotel with NQ2. We have enormous confidence in the coastal location of this hotel. Growing up in Bournemouth myself, I know only too well that the town has been one of the UK’s leading seaside resorts for many generations.

"Bournemouth has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, particularly in the last 12 months as the UK has embraced staycations. The UK’s coastline continues to attract demand domestically and internationally and the opening of this hotel reflects our positivity toward UK development. We believe this new hotel is an excellent addition to the ibis Styles portfolio and very much look forward to further serving the Bournemouth community and visitors to the stunning area."

NQ2 and Accor also operate the Mercure Bournemouth Queen's Hotel and Spa in Meyrick Road.

Toby Barnes-Taylor MBE from NQ2, said: "Bournemouth is thriving, and we are proud to continue our investment and commitment to the town’s hotel and tourism industry."
