JUST four coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows there were no new cases in the BCP Council area in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Saturday.

It means the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic remains at 25,162.

In the seven days leading up to April 5, the latest rolling seven-day period, 50 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 12.6 per 100,000.

The Dorset Council area recorded four cases, taking the total to 11,761 since the start of the pandemic.

The rolling infection rate stood at 11.1 per 100,000 after 42 cases were confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, no new cases were confirmed in the new Forest, keeping the total at 6,117.

The rolling infection rate was 15 per 100,000 after 27 cases were confirmed in the week before April 5.
