SEVENTEEN new cases of Covid have been recorded across Dorset in the latest 24-hour period.

Department of Health and Social Care data shows just six new cases of coronavirus were recorded across the BCP Council area in the 24-hour period up until 4pm on Thursday, April 8.

These six cases brings the total number of Covid cases in BCP to 25,209 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 11 new Covid cases were recorded in Dorset Council, bringing the total there up to 11,795 cases since March last year.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 85, with a rate of 21.5 per 100,000 of the population. In Dorset 47 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate per 100,000 in the Dorset Council area is 12.4.

In the New Forest there was one new case recorded in the latest 24-hour period, bringing the total in the district since the pandemic started up to 6,133. A total of 32 cases have been seen in the past seven days in the New Forest where the case rate is 17.8.
