A MAN grabbed a woman and threw her to the ground as she tried to get on a bus in Bournemouth.

The victim suffered rib injuries and now police have appealed for witnesses.

The attack took place at around 7.50pm on Thursday March 25 in Gervis Road.

The victim – a local woman aged in her 40s – suffered an injury to her ribs that did not require hospital treatment.

Following enquiries, a 40-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The arrested man and woman are known to each other.

Police Constable Ran Hartman-Turner, of Dorset Police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

"I understand there were two members of the public who intervened and I would urge them to please come forward as you may have important information to assist my enquiries."
