A WOMAN got stuck in the mud up to her waist after trying to rescue her puppy from the water.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the River Avon in Christchurch, near Stony Lane South, at 11.25am yesterday.
Sixty firefighters called to blaze at Wimborne plantation
Crews from Christchurch and Springbourne and technical rescue teams from Poole attended and a fire service wading team went to the aid of the woman and the dog.
A fire service spokesman said: "The female entered the water to recover her puppy but after doing so became stuck waist-deep, in the riverbed mud. A fire service wading team quickly rescued both of them."
