A WOMAN suffered a dog bite while trying to stop a Husky from attacking her dog.

At around 10am on Wednesday, March 31 the victim – a woman aged in her 50s – was walking her dog on a lead at Iford playing fields.

She was in the field near to the river and by a bridge leading into a second field when it is reported that two men with dogs came toward her.

The pair were walking an elderly brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier, a grey and white Husky and two small dogs – one was similar to a Shih Tzu and the other one was a ginger Chow-sized dog.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier ran over to the victim’s dog, which was sat down beside her, and she asked the owner to retrieve the dog as hers is very nervous.

As the owner retrieved the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the Husky – believed to be called Nala – ran toward the victim’s dog and tried to attack it.

The victim sustained a puncture wound during the incident that required medical treatment.

The male dog owner is described as tanned, approximately five feet ten inches tall of slim build with short brown hair that had grey flecks and was receding at the temples.

He also had a short beard with a moustache and was wearing jeans.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

"I am also keen to hear from anyone who recognises the dog owner from the description given."
