LESS than 20 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Dorset in the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows that 13 cases were confirmed across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Tuesday, April 6.

The BCP Council area recorded four cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,195.

In the seven days leading up to April 1, the latest rolling seven-day period, 87 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 22 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area recorded nine new cases, taking its total to 11,774.

The rolling infection rate was 14.8 per 100,000 after 56 cases were confirmed in the past week.

Elsewhere, three cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,126.

The rolling infection rate stood at 20 per 100,000 with 36 cases confirmed in the seven days preceding April 1.
