A MONTHLY stand-up comedy show is adapting to the pandemic by launching a programme of outdoor shows.

Coastal Comedy has unveiled its series of alfresco shows, which will take place at Bournemouth Electric Club.

Four events are planned between May 22 and July 24 at the venue in Broadway Lane, with dates also planned for the amphitheatre at the Lighthouse Poole in June and July.

Coastal Comedy is a Bournemouth-based independent business run by Adrienne Coles, who is a comic herself and with a passion for comedy books the acts as well as promotes and hosts every show.

She said: "After the success of a sold out outdoor show last year at the Lighthouse I decided it was the way to go and I’m very excited, but it doesn’t take much!

"We hope for good weather but everyone needs to dress in appropriate British summertime attire just in case. The laughter will keep us warm and everyone’s gagging for live entertainment and a chance to get out."

Each Coastal Comedy show has a hand-picked line-up of two or three professional comedians including a TV Headliner as seen on programmes such as Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats or Live at the Apollo.

The alfresco outdoor shows at Bournemouth Electric Club have two full football pitches of space, with seating provided under an event sleeve which is open on all sides.

An outside stage will be installed together with a Pizza Oven, outdoor bar and food van.

Details of the headliners for the shows at Bournemouth Electric Club are as follows: May 22 Nathan Caton, June 5 Paul McCaffrey, July 3 Mark Simmons, July 24 Andy Askins.

Doors open at 6pm with the first act beginning at 7.15pm. Advanced tickets are £12.50 and £15 on the door.

The Lighthouse outdoor shows are pencilled in for June 12 and July 10. For more details and to book tickets, visit coastalcomedy.com
