FEWER than 25 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 21 cases were confirmed across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Wednesday.

The BCP Council area recorded 13 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,139.

In the seven days leading up to March 26, the latest rolling seven-day period, 68 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 17.2 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area recorded eight new cases, taking the total 11,738.

The rolling infection rate stood at 28.5 per 100,000 people with 108 cases confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, four cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,101.

The rolling rate was 25 per 100,000 after 45 cases were confirmed in the week before March 26.
