Bournemouth is set to face a few days of gloriously hot weather as a heatwave hits our shores.

Temperatures are set to soar across the region as restrictions ease including as end to the 'stay at home' order allowing up to six people to meet outdoors.

The weather will be significantly warmer this week with temperatures in some parts of the county hitting 18C over the next few days.

Chances of a 'white Easter' have been slashed by bookies as the cold front is expected to hit the UK a day later on Monday instead.

Forecaster Bournemouth Sun said: "Initially it was looking like a very brief warm period, but high pressure has shifted further east ensuring that we will see a week of settled and fairly warm weather, especially Tuesday-Thursday.

"Temperatures will judge towards 20c inland with 17/18c along the coast. Generally 13-15c either side of midweek.

"Next week will come as a shock to the system as a cold northerly plunge sinks southwards meaning a return of night time frosts.

However the forecaster has said that a recovery of warmer temperatures is likely by the middle of April.

Meanwhile forecaster Bournemouth and Poole Weather said: "It looks as though through the next few days we'll see plenty of sunny conditions and temperatures slowly creeping up as a warmer air mass pushes over us from the south.

"By Wednesday, maybe Thursday as well we should hit 20C for the first time this year, however even just the smallest of sea breezes and those temperatures will come tumbling down given sea temperatures are just 8-9C at the moment.

"The weather is looking cooler from Friday but currently Easter is not looking quite as colder as it did, hopefully plenty of sunshine and dry weather will be on the cards."

The warm weather coincides with a major easing of England’s lockdown measures, when the “stay at home” order will end, and groups of six people, or two households, can meet outside.

Outdoor sporting venues such as football and cricket pitches, tennis and basketball courts, outdoor swimming pools, golf courses and sailing clubs will also be allowed to reopen.
