A BOURNEMOUTH teenager has been arrested in connection with an assault by two men with a machete and a claw hammer in West Howe.

The 16-year-old was detained on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent following an altercation on Montgomery Avenue on Sunday March 21.

It was reported that a Bournemouth man aged in his 50s was assaulted by two male suspects who were in possession of a machete and a claw hammer and sustained serious stab wounds.

The victim suffered several lacerations to his ankles, leg and elbow and was taken to hospital for treatment. However, his injuries are not life-threatening.

A 35-year-old man from Bournemouth was also arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both individuals have been released on police bail as detectives continue to investigate the incident.
