TRAFFIC going in and out of a Dorset town is slow due to a broken down lorry - and motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible.
St John's Hill in Shaftesbury is partially blocked due to a broken down lorry near St James' Church.
It is affecting traffic heading in and out of the town.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 12.55pm that a lorry was stuck on St John’s Hill in Shaftesbury. It was reported the road was blocked.
"Officers have attended to assist with traffic control.
"Recovery for the vehicle is being arranged.
"The road has been closed and motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible."
