DORSET is set to face strong winds and heavy rain this week after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning.

The wind warning was announced this morning and covers all of England and Wales from 9pm on Wednesday, March 10.

The warning will be in place until 3pm on Thursday, March 11, with high winds expected across the county during this time.

It states: "Strong winds accompanied by heavy and blustery showers may bring some disruption to England and Wales."

Individual forecasts have predicted heavy rain across Dorset throughout Wednesday and Thursday, with the chance of rain very high for both BCP and Dorset Council areas.

Gusts may reach 60-70 mph on coasts and hills, especially in the west, before gradually easing on Thursday afternoon.

The Met Office also warns of potential delays for high-sided vehicles travelling on roads around the country, as well as possible power cuts and delays to drivers and users of public transport.
