COPPER wire and pieces of aluminium have been stolen in two separate thefts in the conurbation.

Now Dorset Police has released an image of a van they believe was involved in both incidents – in a bid to identify the driver.

Around 3.30pm on Friday, February 19, a van pulled up outside an address in Ophir Road, Bournemouth

Officers say a man got out and went into the garden of a property and stole a quantity of scrap copper wire.

Then, a second theft was reported to have taken place on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 24.

On this occasion, a van pulled up outside an address in Corbiere Avenue, Poole, and pieces of aluminium that were on the driveway were loaded into the vehicle.

However, a neighbour challenged what was going on and the van drove off.

Police Sergeant Steve Boston, of Dorset Police, said: “Following enquiries, we know that the previous owner of the van sold it in February 2020.

"Enquiries at the new registered keepers address have unfortunately so far been unsuccessful.

“We believe that the same van was involved in both incidents and I am now issuing an image of it in the hope that someone may know of its whereabouts.

“If you have seen this van parked up at an address on a regular basis or know who may be driving it, please get in contact with Dorset Police.”
