Meet these adorable Dorset dogs sharing cuddles and walks in lockdown.

These pampered pooches are clearly enjoying having their owners around as many of us continue to work from home or are on furlough.

Jay, a Mastiff aged 5 from Parkstone is "an amazing soft big lump who loves a fuss, he can be stubborn in the most funny ways, " says owner Carol Abbott.

"He is scared of the spin cycle on the washing machine, scared of things on his walks that weren't there before, such as a road barrier or a dropped childs glove hanging on a wall waiting for the owner to reclaim it! He likes to sit at the top of the stairs and on our laps!

Carol works as a childminder and has worked exhaustingly through all lockdowns for keyworker families. She added: "He would have missed the children's company if I hadn't. The children I care for adore him and he loves them too. He doesn't mind sharing his bed with his black cat brother, and he goes to doggy day care once a week for great socialisation (Paws and More)."

Also meet Merlin who belongs to Nicky Crowe who runs the Dog Friendly Dorset Facebook group- a lovely, friendly and supportive community for dog parents in Dorset (www.facebook.com/groups/dogfriendlydorset )

Nicky said:"He loves to amuse me by playing in flower beds and doing his party trick of curling his tongue".

Nicky writes a blog type post about lockdown with dogs - with Merlin and his dog chums on the group.

"We cover all sorts of topics like behaviour (I'm a behaviourist) and recently I was on BBC Solent radio on the topic of "what is local in lockdown..."

"In order to work from home he instructs me to put the electric blanket on the couch and place a pillow under his head!"

Dawn in Hamworthy, Poole says her dog Teddy loves going on long walks to Upton Country Park, chasing his ball and chilling at home. He is pictured enjoying the stream at Upton Castle , smiling for the camera and chilling after a walk.

Lily Hebditch in Poole says her pet dog Maggie "loves the beaches and sunbathing now that it’s getting warmer. She’s very lazy and would sleep all day if she could!"

Young Jasper is a Parson Russell Terrier, highly intelligent, extremely loyal and great company. He has motivated me to go out and walk, normally late evening as I am shielding and furloughed only working from home a few hours a month says his owner Michelle.
